Position summary: From an Inside, primarily office-based position, perform as a member of a sales team to develop new and existing customers within an assigned customer base and/or a given sales territory. Support the company’s sales goals by working in conjunction with assigned field sales representatives/account managers and category managers to maintain and grow the assigned accounts business. Utilize professional sales techniques, effective marketing of company products, and good customer service to promote and build deep, high quality customer relationships resulting in improved sales and profitability in your assigned accounts.
Duties and Responsibilities includes the following essential functions:
- Utilizing the phone as your primary means of communication with your customers, utilize daily call sheets to maintain regular consistent communication to both promote business and take daily orders for order entry.
- Once orders are received by the inside sales rep from customers, rep must insure accurate order entry into the system and proper coordination with field sales to ensure clear and effective communication to the customer.
- While communicating with the customer, inside rep should be attempting to upsell from premium push list, vendor sponsored / coordinated out front sales and overcome objections. The inside rep should communicate all information to the account manager.
- In the event the customer passes due to slow movement, inside sales rep should schedule a demo; and inform sales rep, supervisor and marketing. Once the demo is scheduled, inside sales rep should communicate this information to the sales rep so adequate product is ordered, for use at the demo.
- Every Friday by 3PM send out to each field sales rep an email with all of the following weeks preorders by customer number, copy the sales managers and category buyer.
- Once orders are received by the inside sales rep from customers, rep must insure accurate order entry into the system and proper coordination with field sales to ensure clear and effective communication to the customer.
- Introducing new lines and/or existing line extensions.
- Inside sales rep will introduce new products from an overview perspective and offer to have the sales rep follow up with a store visit.
- Inside rep will inform via email, sales rep, sales manager of the customer’s interest
- Meet or exceed established sales goals and objectives.
- Maintains updated sales binders with current price sheets.
- Maintaining a daily call log located in a shared folder located in the Sales drive folder called “Pre-order inside Sales Daily Call Log”.
- Attends trade shows, and other industry events, as requested.
- Works closely with Account Sales Team and Purchasing Department on customer product needs.
- Works in conjunction with Credit Department and other related departments in regards to sales needs and objectives.
- Premium Preorder Prospect List
- Select accounts off the premium prospect list to add to the weekly call list.
- When an account is selected, inside sales rep should inform the accounts sales rep and sales manager via email.
- Select accounts off the premium prospect list to add to the weekly call list.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum high school graduate. Advanced degree preferred.
- 1 to 3 years of previous Inside Sales experience.
- Previous food service distribution experience strongly preferred.
- A proactive self-starter, motivated and resourceful to reach and exceed sales goals, while achieving a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Ability to manage multiple customers concurrently at various stages of the sales process.
- Must have the ability to persuade and influence others (good negotiation skills).
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have excellent listening skills and ability to use open and closed probes.
- Must be able to prioritize work.
- Must be accurate, thorough, and maintain consistent follow-through.
- Must have strong sales skills, but also be willing and able to “roll-up shirt sleeves” to provide service when needed.
- Strong working knowledge of AS400, Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook
- Must demonstrate sales leadership skills.
